By Kristen Stockard – V.R. Eaton Agriculture Science Teacher Retail florists are always looking for floral designers who know how to create the basic designs needed in a shop on a daily basis. TSFA has begun to fulfill this need by the development of the Texas High School Certification program in 2004. This certification program allows school districts to provide more value to their diploma and helps provide young, enthusiastic floral designers to meet the retail florist needs!
V.R. Eaton High School hosted an official TSFA Floral test on April 13th 2019. 259 total students from 17 high schools across Texas attended the event. Aledo, Azle, Birdville, Burleson, Burleson Centennial, Byron Nelson, Carroll, Gainesville, Grapevine, Jacksonville, McKinney Boyd, McKinney North, Marcus, Millsap, Northwest, Poolville and VR Eaton. It was a wonderful feeling to see so many students and teachers come together in one place to prove they have the skill set needed to be ready to walk into any floral shop and serve as a floral assistant. Northwest ISD had 129 students attend the TSFA certification event. Northwest High School – Texan Flowers
