1/14/2019 Student Spotlight: Chase S.By Chase S. STEM Academy I am currently an apprentice electrician. As a senior in the STEM Academy, I have an internship class that allows me to come to school later so that I can go to my apprenticeship. During the summer, I was a full time employee and will go back to working full time once I graduate. I do not work in one set location because there are various job sites to go to. I have worked in the construction of a new gymnasium for Paschal High School, the renovation of a NTB into my company's new office, the new Flower Mound Town Hall, the Carrol High School Administration Building, and the Carrol High School Transportation Center. I decided to follow this career path because I realized that college was not for me and this was a career where I'd need education and skills but I'd get paid throughout my training! I mainly do commercial work but sometimes my company does service work. I am always gaining new knowledge that will directly help me in my career path which I like because I know I will use these skills again. Some of the skills I have learned are the installation of various electrical components and the understanding of how electricity runs through a building. I think this career is perfect because I will always have a job and the challenges I face are always changing so I know this job won't get boring. Want to read about more CTE students? Click here!
